God Forbid

What happens when the clouds hide the sun, the rain replaces the sunshine, the wind changes directions, the spark weakens, and the fire burns out? What happens when a man notices a change in a woman he loves, and their relationship fades into a friendship?

God forbid this will happen to a man and a woman whose love was strong; God forbid the time comes when he cannot see the love in her eyes he saw before. God forbid the cruelness of love weakens in one heart and strong love remains in the other.

Shall a man cry because he realizes the sands of time have shifted? God forbid she should rejoice, and God forbid her to think the pasture is greener on the other side of the fence, and God forbid her to compare their love to a grain of salt. Most of all, shall a woman give up on love and believe relationships always fail, and God forbid we throw love away after so many moments of happiness?

God forbid the seasons to change; God Forbid the spring and the summer to turn into fall; God forbid ice sicles to replace heat and our love to parallel the cold of winter or the heart full of love to harden when it was once soft.

God forbid that a woman cannot be happy or a man is taken lightly, that walking away from him is easy, or that the eye is wayward, journeys a distance, and wanders to a new landscape, and what happens after she finds out the grass isn’t greener on the other side of the fence?

Conclusively, this analogy is true, and all these possibilities frequently happen to a man and woman, and God forbid love to spiral downward and take a great fall. God forbid love to grow wings and fly away, and God forbid it should happen to you or me. Paul Castle
